Program Highlights
- Equip students with fundamental knowledge in all major areas of business
- Train students to have analytical competence to analyze, design, implement and control information systems used by businesses
- Up-to-date courses based on latest industry trends (recent new courses: Python, Cyber security, R programming, FinTech, AI applications)
- Professional certification - e.g. CISCO CCNA and CCNP for computer network management, and CISA for IS auditing
- Flexible career choices with multiple career paths - e.g. IT auditors; business analysts; systems analysts; technology analysts; IT consulting; systems developers; network administrators; database administrators; technology entrepreneurs; etc.
- Complement double-majors in Accounting, Finance, Marketing, Management, Operations Management, and Economics; allowing students to work in all these industries
- Opportunities for corporate projects and case competitions
- Opportunities for one-year or one-term or summer internship programs in various corporations
- Opportunities for one-term exchange programs in overseas universities
- Offer two Options for students to develop more specialized skills in the respective area: Business Analytics Option, Information Systems Auditing Option

Options
The BBA-IS Program offers two Options for students to have specialization in the respective areas. Student may opt to graduate with or without an option.
Students who take an option MUST complete all requirements specified in addition to the major requirements. Courses taken as Option Required Courses CANNOT be counted towards the IS major requirements.
Business Analytics Option (for students admitted in 2014-15 and after)
To incorporate the huge demand for talents in business intelligence / big data / data analysis, the Business Analytics Option has been introduced which focuses on developing students with deep analytical skills, and to use the analysis of big data to make effective decisions.

* ISOM3900 is an OM course which cannot be used to fulfill the BBA-IS major requirements except as required course for this BA Option.
Besides the Option Required Courses as listed above, students should complete the BBA-IS major requirements as specified in the BBA-IS "Program Curriculum" section. For the Elective(s), students may take any 3-4 ISOM courses coded between 3000 and 3499; 4000 and 4499 totaling a minimum of 10 credits. (For students who have taken the 6-credit course ISOM 4400 to fulfill the IS elective requirement, the minimum number of courses for this requirement may be reduced by one.) Among them, the courses below are the recommended substantive courses for students who take this BA Option:
- ISOM 3310 e-Business Management and Web Analytics
- ISOM 3320 Internet Applications Development
(Note: If you take ISOM3320 as IS required course, it cannot be reused to fulfill the IS elective requirements.)
- ISOM 3370 Big Data Technologies
- ISOM 3390 Business Programming in R
- ISOM 3400 Python Programming for Business Analytics
(Note: For students of 2018-19 intake and after, if you take ISOM3400 as IS required course, it cannot be reused to fulfill the IS elective requirements.)
- ISOM 4400 Information Systems Project (Note: With a Business Analytics theme; Instructor’s approval is required.)
Information Systems Auditing Option (for students admitted in 2013-14 and after)
This Option focuses on the profession of IS auditing that helps client organizations examine the management controls within an information technology infrastructure.
Specific topics include IS audit process, governance and management of IT, protection of information assets and so on.

Declaration of Option
If you would like to graduate with the BA or ISA Option under the BBA-IS major program, please complete the Qualtrics declaration form before the commencement of your final term of study. We will inform students of the link to fill in the Qualtrics form and the submission deadline before each regular term by email.
