2023 PhD Recruitment Summer Camp
The PhD program in Operations Management (OM) at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) Business School is hosting a summer camp at the end of August 2023 for students who plan to apply for Fall-2024 entry to the PhD Program. The objective is to offer prospective students an opportunity to get to know our PhD program in depth and interact with our faculty and PhD students.

OM PhD Student Xinyi Zhou wins the Honorable Mention in the 2023 POMS-HK Best Student Paper Competition
OM PhD Student Xinyi Zhou won the Honorable Mention in the 2023 POMS-HK Best Student Paper Competition for her paper “Quality and Welfare Implications of Product Traceability in Supply Chain”, under the supervision of Professor Lijian Lu. The paper studies the roles of traceability-enabled technology, such as Blockchain technology, on the equilibrium quality and welfares in supply chain.

Prof. Weiyin Hong received the MISQ best reviewer award in 2021
The MIS Quarterly Outstanding Reviewer of the Year Award acknowledges the outstanding contribution of reviewers, whose insightful and supportive feedback has helped authors substantially improve their papers.

Prof. Ying-Ju Chen received RGC Collaborative Research Fund in 2021/22
Prof. Ying-Ju Chen has been awarded a 2021–2022 RGC Collaborative Research Fund, receiving over HK$7.9 million of total funding. The RGC fund is for the research project, “Alleviation of supply shortage and resource allocation inefficiencies during the pandemic.

Stats Faculty elected as Fellow in the Field
Prof. Yingying Li was elected as one of the "SoFiE Fellows" by the Society for Financial Econometrics (SoFiE) Council, in recognition of her outstanding service to the profession.

Prof. Man Yu is one of the award recipients of the Manufacturing & Service Operations Management (MSOM) 2021 Meritorious Service Award in recognition of her outstanding service provided to support the journal's scholarly mission.

Prof. Lucy Xia has been selected as a Young Scientist Participant for the inaugural Hong Kong Laureate Forum 2023
Prof. Lucy Xia has been selected as a Young Scientist Participant for the inaugural Hong Kong Laureate Forum by the Scientific Review Board (SRB) of the Council of the Hong Kong Laureate Forum (the HKLF), to be held on Nov 13-18, 2023.

PhD Placement (Information Systems)
Our PhD graduate, Dr Ng Ka Chung, Boris will join as Assistant Professor at the Department of Marketing and Management of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

Franklin Prize for Teaching Excellence 2021
The Franklin Prize recognizes and awards HKUST Business School Faculty for their exceptional Teaching Excellence. Our faculty members have won the individual teaching award in recognition of their outstanding performance in teaching in 2021. Prof. Xuan Wang has won the individual award for MBA core teaching.
