It is with immense sadness we learn the death of Professor Theodore "Ted" Henry King Clark, former Associate Professor of the Department of ISOM and the founding member of MscISM, which occurred in December 2023. He was 66 years old.

ISOM Faculty Named Senior Research Fellow by the RGC
Prof. Yingying Li has been conferred the title "RGC Senior Research Fellow" by the Research Grants Council (RGC), gaining a fellowship grant of HK$7.8 million. The fellowship scheme is prestigious and supports only ten awardees each year for exceptionally outstanding academics at UGC-funded universities in Hong Kong, intending to facilitate their dedication to research and development.
Prof. Dongwook Shin honored at the 2023 INFORMS Annual Meeting
Prof. Dongwook Shin has received the Best Cluster Paper Award in the Service Science Section in the INFORMS Annual Meeting 2023 held in Phoenix, the U.S. The award committee has awarded Prof. Shin's paper with First Place. The title of the paper is "Social Learning with Polarized Preferences on Content Platforms," co-authored with Prof. KADIYALA, Bharadwaj from the University of Utah.
Prof. Ying-Ju Chen is appointed as “Crown Worldwide Professor of Business”
Prof. Ying-Ju Chen received the "Crown Worldwide Professorship of Business" in July 2023. The named professorship is a significant recognition bestowed upon eminent academics at the University who contributed outstanding and impactful academic research over the years.
2023 PhD Recruitment Summer Camp
The PhD program in Operations Management (OM) at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) Business School is hosting a summer camp at the end of August 2023 for students who plan to apply for Fall-2024 entry to the PhD Program. OM PhD Student Xinyi Zhou wins the Honorable Mention in the 2023 POMS-HK Best Student Paper Competition
OM PhD Student Xinyi Zhou won the Honorable Mention in the 2023 POMS-HK Best Student Paper Competition for her paper “Quality and Welfare Implications of Product Traceability in Supply Chain”, under the supervision of Professor Lijian Lu. The paper studies the roles of traceability-enabled technology, such as Blockchain technology, on the equilibrium quality and welfares in supply chain.
Prof. Weiyin Hong received the MISQ best reviewer award in 2021
The MIS Quarterly Outstanding Reviewer of the Year Award acknowledges the outstanding contribution of reviewers, whose insightful and supportive feedback has helped authors substantially improve their papers.
Prof. Ying-Ju Chen received RGC Collaborative Research Fund in 2021/22
Prof. Ying-Ju Chen has been awarded a 2021–2022 RGC Collaborative Research Fund, receiving over HK$7.9 million of total funding. The RGC fund is for the research project, “Alleviation of supply shortage and resource allocation inefficiencies during the pandemic.
